Homemade French Dressing

Here are two versions for homemade french dressing:

Clear French Dressing

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup salad oil
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

    Directions:

Put all of the ingredients in a jar; put a lid on it, and shake well before using. This makes ¾ cup of dressing.

    Hot French Dressing

    Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup salad oil
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons catsup
  • 2 teaspoons grated onion
  • 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¾ teaspoon chili powder
  • ¼ teaspoon sugar 1/8 teaspoons dry mustard
  • Few drops Tabasco sauce
  • Pinch of pepper
  • Pinch of paprika

    Directions:

Combine ingredients; shake well in a covered jar. Makes 2/3 cup. This goes nicely with meat salads.

*Note French Dressing is a mixture of oil, vinegar, and seasonings. Clear French Dressing separates, and needs a shake every time it is served.
