Recipe Waldorf Salad

Recipe Waldorf Salad

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 3 apples -- peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1 cup thinly sliced celery
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup raisins (optional)

    Directions:

    In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sugar, lemon juice, and salt. Stir in the apples, celery, walnuts, and raisins. Chill until ready to serve.

    Like so many other salad recipes you can tweak this to your personal taste. Some people omit the celery others add leftover chicken or turkey to make it a meal. Or mandarin oranges, a little pineapple, cranberries, grapes or some coconut, whatever your personal taste tells you to do.

    The easy recipe given is a perfect traditional apple waldorf salad recipe.

    A good idea is to chop the apples first and then drench them in the lemon juice to keep them from browning.
